Organic Lavandula Angustifolia - aka English lavender or True lavender - is one of the most versatille and safe essential oils. It is calming, relaxing, uplifting and comforting.
Qualities
Widely used for common skin ailments to maintain overall health/wellbeing and enhance mood. In ancient ayurvedic tradition it is reported to have a balancing effect on the body. It is a perfect essential oil to diffuse and use on a daily basis. It has strong antiseptic, antimicrobial and analgesic properties so a must have for your first aid kit!
Uses
First aid: clean wounds, soothing skin, cuts, scrapes, burns. Relaxing & good sleep: Calming, relieves anxiety, promotes peaceful sleep, balancing. For sleep, place a drop or two on your pillow or on a cotton ball and place inside your pillowcase. Alternatively, massage oil into the soles of your feet, or add to a diffuser to calm the mind and promote good sleep. For calming, use our Direct Inhalation technique - place a drop of lavender essential oil on your palm, rub your hands together, cup your hands over your nose and take 3 deep breaths with your mouth slightly open (you can also use a nasal inhaler). For relieving anxiety, add to your bathwater combined with bath salts. Skin & Hair: Cooling skin, anti-inflammatory, promotes healthy scalp and hair growth. Add a drop or two to your body wash, lotion, shampoo or conditioner. Blend in a carrier oil such as jojoba for children & elderly with sensitive skin (about 1% essential oil with carrier oil).

Citrus oils such as bergamot, flowering herbs such as rosemary or clary safe, and pine/woody oils.

Safety
Non-toxic, non-irritating and non-sensitizing. Safely used by all ages and one of the few oils that can be used neat (undiluted) on your skin. Although lavender is generally safe to use during pregnancy, it is recommended to discuss safe use with your doctor in your first trimester. Always do a skin test to see if you have an allergy. |
